Custom Photography vs. Chain store studio session
If you've ever been to a studio in a mall (and I used to work at one an age ago, so I know), you know that you do get some decent photos for hardly anything. Makes you wonder why custom photography costs so much, huh? The answer is actually pretty simple: you get what you pay for. When you choose a chain studio (and I am definitely NOT criticizing this choice), you get an allotted amount of time and no more. The session is rarely catered to your requests, and clothing/set changes are not something that make the photographer very happy. You walk in with a coupon for something like $9.99 for what seems like a couple of great sized photos and a bazillion wallets (that you know you'll never use), and in teeny tiny print you find this amazing package is for the "first pose only". Well there you have it. Definitely not the worst deal ever, but it doesn't leave much wiggle room. Before long, you're staring at a screen and liking photos that aren't that first pose and trying to justify spending what seems like an obscene amount of money for something you thought was going to cost you just $9.99.
When you book a custom session, it's just that: custom made. I care about that dream pose you've seen (though it may not be doable for safety reasons), the colors you like, your baby's temperament. All of that matters. It really does. When you hire a custom photographer, you're getting a tailor-made experience and something to hold on to during those rough teenage years. Haha! Ok, back to being serious.
It is my belief that professional photography should be accessible to all. I am proud to offer my clients affordable prices for high quality work. I do not believe in gouging, as it either turns a prospective client away, or makes them resentful. I want my clients to feel at ease and know their value to my business. I love being able to develop a personal relationship with each and every client and I hope you can see it in my work.
